I’m back today to share another Learning Resources product review. Learning Resources provided me with a copy of this product, but the opinions are mine. The Basic Vocabulary Photo Cards set includes 156 cards in 16 areas. They come in a box divided by themes. The front of each card contains a picture and a label. The back contains a picture with a blank. Students can use a dry erase marker to label the car themselves. How am I using them in the speech room? – Expressive vocabulary : Labeling noun & verbs. – Receptive vocabulary: Identify the card I name. – Categories: Sort the photos into each section of the box. – Describing: These will be perfect to pair with the EET. PROS: Real life photographs can be crucial for teaching young children or children on the autism spectrum. CONS: Although there are a lot of themes, if feels like there are just a few in each section. I’d love to see more photos in the set. Learning Resources is going to give away one copy of this product. Just enter on the rafflecopter below. The set retails for $26.99. a Rafflecopter giveaway

I have a set of Action Cards that are old and I believe just from a toy store. They are great! And probably much cheaper than typical “therapy” materials… 🙂

I really don’t have any ‘favorite’ deck for language. But I try to use the minimal pairs and target phonological awareness often for children with any type of artic problem. It’s all tied together and helps with reading fluency.

I don’t have a favorite set of photo cards. The one I have in my classroom is a hand-me-down from a retired teacher, and definitely shows its age (rotary phone with a cord, for example) so I resort to making my own or using Boardmaker pictures. I would love to have a more current set!

I currently don’t have a set of photo cards that I really like and have been wanting to purchase some. I work with a lot of students on the autism spectrum, so I know that real photos are beneficial for them to generalize their knowledge of the concepts. I use real photos from super duper (feelings fun deck) to teach emotions. I would love to own these Learning Resources cards for nouns and verbs! 🙂

I have some off-brand early object and early action cards but they are all pictures from the 80’s and often make my kids look at me like, “what is that?” Obviously, I’d love these new ones with more up to date pictures! Thanks!

I have a set of picture cards from LinguaSystems – they were a part of the expressive learning kit. I find that for my younger kids, they are too complex. Many of the pictures have a background in them and are too small…. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

My favourite set at the moment are an app called Bitsboard. However, I find that the i-pod can be tricky for highly distractable kids who just want to tap-tap-tap away. It would be nice to have a new set of ‘real’ cards to regain some control 🙂
