I’m back with more ‘STUFF’ you need. Haha. I am always joking that one day I will be trapped when a pile of my speech therapy stuff falls over on me. That impending doom isn’t enough to make me stop ordering though. Mr. UPS is probably wondering what I do with all the stuff in those boxes! Today, Learning Resources asked me to review some of their new materials. I browsed the list and thought this Stacker Crackers game looked perfect. I picked the Opposites version. The game has 100 cardboard cut outs. The images are crackers and cheese. Students take turns drawing from the box. They read the word on the back of the card and name an opposite. If they get it correct, start a pile of snacks! Stack the crackers and cheese until the game is over. The child with the highest stack wins. Of course we had to throw some ‘extra’ cards in there. If the the child pulls a Stack Attack card, they loose all their snacks and start over. One of my kiddos started calling this the SHARK Attack. It was pretty funny. I can’t promise you won’t be hungry. I used this with a ton of different kids this week. Let me tell you about a few of them. Opposites: Well, duh. That’s the obvious one! Articulation: I have a ton of /r/ and /s/ kids. We said “My cracker says ___. The opposite is ___.” Pronouns: Add a picture of a boy and girl to feed the cracker to. Him/Her, She/He can be targeted. Irregular Verbs: “Yesterday I ATE a cracker that said ___” Yesterday I GAVE you a cracker that said ___.” My older /r/ kiddos got a big laugh out of the 100% Fun advertising.
