I thought I would take the time to share some more of our Social Thinking activities. I’m using the Superflex Curriculum with my 2nd-5th graders with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I’ve reviewed the program and some supplemental books. I’ve been talking about getting started, making crafts, making jello brains, using accessories, and playing games all related to Superflex. This month we’ve been using the 82 New Unthinkables book and the character ‘Int-Eruptor’. The Unthinkable Int-Erupter makes people interrupt each other. He doesn’t realize that makes other people think negatively about us! We paired this with a few books. I think I own every Julia Cook book on the Amazon. They match up to the Social Thinking curriculum so well! I LOVE that I discovered the Activity books for each one. Pre-made worksheets save me SO much time. I linked to these at the bottom of the post! We used the My Mouth is a Volcano book and the activity book. The other book we used was Interrupting Chicken by David Stein. It’s SUCH a cute book. We made a Int-Erupter crafts: Make your own volcanos! Start by tracing a circle. Then cut out a wedge so it appears like pac-man. Fold the paper into a cone and tape shut. Cut out orange and red paper slips for ‘lava’. Write blurt/interrupting statements. Put them through the top of the volcano and tape insides. Label your Int-Erupter! Here’s a peek of some posters we have made. We make a lot of these because it takes us several sessions to get through the material. This lets up quickly review when we pick back up. The amazon affiliate links above are included for your convenience. What are you using to work on interrupting?
