I snapped some pictures last week in preschool. I’ve been hammering home skills for ‘on’ and ‘under’ concepts with one of my preschool friends. I love to do play therapy! Nothing is more organic for ‘on’ than the doll house.
On the bed!
On the potty!
On the chair!
On the phone, while on the bed, on the top floor!
On chair on the ‘driveway’. What’s your favorite way to target basic concepts in play based therapy?

I hand my little ones objects and have them put them “on” and “under” things. I usually do about 5 items around my room and then have them retrieve them by object name. If they can’t find one I can remind them it is “on the chair” (or “under the table, etc.)
I love working on prepositional directions! I play a fun version of “hide and seek” with a little owl in my therapy room. The person who is “it” comes to me and I whisper a preposition in their ear so that the others can’t hear. That student must hide baby owl using that preposition. When someone finds it, they must describe where it is using a preposition in a sentence. “Baby owl is on Mrs. Allison’s computer.” I have yet to meet a child who doesn’t love hide and seek!
I’ve also done a classroom lesson on “over” and “under” because these are somethimes hard concepts to grasp. I tie a long rope on the back of two chairs and spread them so that the rope is tight. Students stand in pairs facing each other with the rope between them. Then, I hand them baby owl. I call out either “on” or “under” and they pass baby owl to their partner on the other side of the rope (either over or under the rope). We see how fast we can get through the whole line. If baby owl is dropped, we start over.

My district is now allowing staff to access youTube and many of my little one’s love Where’s the Monkey? by KidsTV123 (some of my older ones have learned the planets from another songs by same guy) and In, On under by Kids English kindergarten songs. We follow up with objects of course.
