If you’re working with preschool children or younger elementary students with phonological disorders, today’s product review is just for you! Silly Sets is a new Super Duper product. Silly Sets: Minimal Pairs for Maximum Progress Card Deck is developed by  Kim Patterson, M.S., CCC-SLP and Rynette Kjesbo, M.S., CCC-SLP. I’ve reviewing the product today and hosting a giveaway too! So stick with me and enter below! The Minimal Pairs approach to phonological disorders pairs two words with only one sound difference together. The Silly Set cards include 100 illustrated minimal pairs. Each card has an illustration on one side. The back side includes sentences with minimal pairs. For example, “Kim wore a pretty dress.” and “Tim wore a pretty dress.” The silly factor will definitely get your students laughing. Changing the meaning will really get your students attending to their sound.  The cards include the following processes: Cluster Reduction, Fronting, Stopping and Final Consonant Deletion. Pros: I love that it includes a cheat sheet page that tells the different pairs included. The cards are also color coded for easy use. Cons: The set only includes 4 different processes. I’d love if they included a second set with other processes. You can purchase Silly Sets through Super Duper Pub. for $21.95. Enter to win your free copy below! a Rafflecopter giveaway Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of this item for review. No other compensation was provided and these opinions are mine!

  • Oh, my! Where do I even start??? My school system is really strapped, budget-wise. This would be a tremendous help with my students. With the PARK coming up next year, this could also be used with my students to get them ready to answer “why” they answered how they did.

  • These look great! Even though it only includes 4 processes, those are the 4 most common processes my kids are working on! The pictures look super motivating too 🙂

  • I need this because I work in preschool special ed where the budget is pretty much zero. I need this because I have at least two kids on my caseload who respond to pretty much nothing but iPads and iPhones and desktop computers. I need this because I’m nearly broke from spending my own money on materials and office supplies. It would be really nifty to use this app with my kids with articulation/phonological goals.

  • This is so great! I have a bunch of children (up to fifth grade) that are working on just these skills. Having a little excitement with their words would really encourage them! And it’d be fun for everybody!

  • I am a CF at a BRAND NEW school with a very large case load. I have a ton of kiddos engaging in phonological processes well beyond developmentally appropriate norms. Did I mention it’s a BRAND NEW SCHOOL and I am a CF!? I have no materials and I am a contractor, so I am not included in the school’s budget. I would LOVE to have the Silly Sets for Minimal Pairs. Phonology is one of my favorite things to work on; I actually wrote a research report on the different approaches for remediating phonological processes in grad school. 🙂

  • I would love these because I am working in a new district this year where they have apparently never heard of phonological disorders! I have been creating all my own materials, I would love something free and pre-made!
