Apraxia Turkeys

Apraxia Turkeys

My caseload is full of little ones working on CV and VC syllables. Those little bodies also need to get up and move around during therapy. For Thanksgiving we’re going to use these turkeys!

I’ve made a packet you can purchase on TpT. It’s got one big turkey and 72 feathers for CV syllables.

There are several cards to CV and VC practice. Touch the initial sound on the turkey and then a vowel to say a variety of CV sounds (ie: me, mow, moo, etc.) Next work the other way to target VC sounds.

Cut out the turkey feathers for the sounds: /m,b,t/. Have students add the feathers to the turkey while they practice. Included feathers focus on repeated syllables (i.e. me, me, me) or changed syllables (i.e. me, moo, me, moo). The cards that include just the letter are meant to be practice for the consonant sound in isolation.

I attached my turkey to the poster and then added velcro dots. The kids can add the turkey feathers to the poster after they say the syllables.

After only one day of using them, I’m already naming these as a fall favorite!
