What’s an SLP?

Working as an SLP means you often have to explain what S.L.P means!!

Superfantastic Lingual Partner?

Smart Lady Pants?

School Lunch Protector?

Speech-Language Pathologist!!!

Some days I wish I could just say I’m a firefighter, nurse, or teacher. When someone has an occupation like a nurse, everyone knows what that means! If I say speech pathologist, it’s likely that I’ll need to do some explaining to help others understand that I don’t just fix R sounds.

You guys know that I’m the handout queen. I pass them out like candy. I made a new handout that you can share with parents, classroom aids, teachers, administrators and others. It gives an overview of our roles as an SLP.

What is an SLP? Handout

Grab the handout in my TpT shop if you think you can use it!

If you need other handouts, check out the Parent Handouts category in my TpT shop!

  • Jenna, thank you so much for this, this handout really sums up a lot of the information that we try to get out to clients. May we repost this on our website, I would be more than happy to link back to your site and to make sure you get credit for the work. We didn’t want to re-post without permission. Thanks for any help that you can provide.

    • Hello! Please don’t repost the work on your site. You can certainly direct people to my post through social media though.

      • Thank you, I understand the value of intellectual property (even if it is free). I will post a link back to your post on our Facebook page and thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. Great post and very needed. I wish I had one for Occupational Therapy as well, people get really confused with the words occupational used in conjunction with children.

  • Hi Jenna-
Thank you for all of your resources.
I’d like to include something similar in a newsletter that I will be developing for the parents of my pre-school kids. I was wondering how you like to be cited? (Name or website? Both?)
