15 Emotions of Back to School for SLPs

15 Emotions of Back to School for SLPs

It’s Back to School Time and school speech-language pathologists are going through the emotional rollercoaster known as the first week of school. It looks a little like this:

#1 When it’s your first day.

#2 And they give you your caseload

#3 And you’re already one away from the caseload cap.

4. And then you see your office for the first time.

5. When you start your schedule but you’re trying to stay positive.

6. And that one teacher says “take him whenever you need to”

#7 And you make your schedule so you can have lunch with your work BFF.

#8 And when you get 4 move-ins that are speech-only.

#9 And when your principal says you don’t have duty this year.

#10 When you sit through Math professional development.

#11 And when you’re finished with your schedule.

#12 When you finally get to see your students!

#13 And you then you find out they actually remember why they come to speech therapy.

#14 When you realize you didn’t lesson-plan so you better go see what Jenna made this summer.

#15 And you realize you’re going to make a big difference for your students this year. Let’s do this.

Have a great school year friends. The first week is always the hardest!
