Ants at my Picnic!

Over the summer, Janes Hodges, a SRN follower sent me an email with a great clearance aisle find! She found these canning jar lids at Wal-Mart with the idea of using them like the Lids N Lizards game, but with ants!  I LOVED that idea so I went off to Wal-Mart searching! All I ended up finding were the inserts so I made my game a little different!

I glued pictures of ants to just a few of the bottoms of the lids.  I explained that each circle was a picnic table cloth and we were trying to avoid ants at our picnics!  Then as kids take a turn with their learning target they flip over the blanket and make sure they didn’t get any ants at their picnic!

Hope you can use this quick game too! Special thanks to Jane for sending in the idea!

  • You always come up with cute ideas! I have the PB&J sandwich cards. The kiddos have to make 2-3 sandwiches starting with the bread, then either peanut butter or jelly and another piece of bread. It also comes with ant and fly cards. The ant card lets them steal a part of a friend’s sandwich, and the fly (which is placed on a friend’s sandwich) stops them from adding onto that sandwich until it is moved. It’s a little complicated for the young ones, but the older ones like it.

I have a question for you. I am working with a child who is backing some sounds. I have tried so many things but nothing seems to work. Is there anything you do that seems to work?
