Farm Academy {app review}

The Virtual Speech Center has developed an app for children 18 months – 3 years. The Farm Academy is focused on vocabulary and concepts. The graphics are made with strong colors. My students were instantly engaged.  The menu screen lets you choose from Learn Mode and Play Mode. Find animals targets vocabulary. The student says “Find the horse.”  For the Feed the Animal activity, The farmer prompts, ” Give the horse the carrot.” The app also targets size concepts (“Find the big duck.”) and counting (1-5). The app has been useful for several kids on my caseload. Mostly those with a cognitive  age around 2. It was too basic for many of my preschoolers.  Check it out in the itunes store for yourself!
