It’s Super Bowl week! I’m more of a college football fan but the Super Bowl is still a fun current event to discuss with my caseload. Deflate Gate anyone? Since speech therapy caseloads are often full of males I’m hoping my new NFL mascot activity is a hit for your speech room!
I thought comparing different NFL mascots would be a great way to target expressive and receptive language goals this week. I made a packet that includes 26 mascots so you can use it all football season in years to come.
The packet includes a poster for teaching comparing/contrast and describing. It includes a football helmet Venn diagram to work on those skills. The mascot map is my favorite activity! Build in some geography lesson, problem solving, and even computer research with this one! Have your students find where the mascot belongs on the map. Describe what a fan would need to wear to a football game in that area.
Other includes worksheets help your students describe the different mascots in different ways. I tried to include basic and more advanced sheets to differentiate among your caseload!
The mascots (most seen in the picture above) can be used in conjunction with every worksheet or along as flashcards for other activities.
