Updated February 2023. We’ve spent a few weeks on the transportation theme at my Preschool. I wanted to share some of my favorite apps for this age group and topic! The best thing about vehicles is that almost all of my students are interested in things that go! That makes therapy more fun and engaging. Today I’m sharing 9 apps from my iPad that I’ve used over the last few weeks.
Each of these apps are straight from my iPad! I used each one last week for students on my caseload ages 3-6.
Trucks HD by Duck Duck Moose: Bulldozers and dump trucks move gravel, get a car dirty and then take it through the car wash, use a tow truck to haul your broken car, and be a garbage truck! This app is really well done, uses kids friendly language, and has so much vocabulary to target! $1.99
MORE Trucks by Duck Duck Moose is a new favorite in our house! The monster trucks and firefighter are a hit!
Tizi Town: Kids Airplane Games: This has so much to explore. It definitely feels like “My Playhome” if you’re familiar with that app, except for the airport! You can take your people through security, get a snack, and catch a flight! Check out airplanes and helicopters.
Wheels on the Bus from Duck Duck Moose This is one of my favorite apps for music. All the parts of the song are interactive. You make the windshield wipers swish and the door open and shut! $2.99
Toca Boca Trains: Toca Boca is known for highly engaging apps. I love Trains because the child is in the engine running to the train! They pick up passengers and freight. It’s really engaging for your train loving students. $2.99
Build a Truck by Duck Duck Moose: Get creative and make a really fun truck! Talk about the parts of a vehicle and their functions! Why do you need wheels? Will a big truck be heavy or light? $1.99
Build and Play 3D: Start with all the parts to a vehicle and then build the object in 3D! Your little engineers will love this one! $2.99
Bamba Airport : Let’s go on a trip! Pick a seat, pick your snack, go through security, grab your luggage and take a flight! $2.99
Fireman Game: Pretend you’re a firefighter in game! Start with a free version and pay to remove ads if you will use it often. The ads are large and annoying if you’ll use it often. This one is cool because you can put the fires out on different scenes, like pirate ship, farm, etc. $2.99 (This starts free with in-app purchases)
I hope you love these 9 transportation themed apps! If you use other apps, leave them in the comment below! Can’t wait to see what you use.

My students enjoy Stop and Go! by Shortstack, $.99. It introduces them to twelve interactive vehicles as they control the stoplight. It also features interactive elements to the scene where you can change it from day to night, make it rain, make a flower grow, and turn the house lights on and off.

Thanks for sharing! As I head back to work tomorrow in the homestretch of the last 9 weeks it will be great to have some new apps that will keep my little ones engaged and excited.

I love Clicky Sticky and have used it for years until the last IOS update. It tells me that the developer needs to update it and I can no longer access it. Does anyone else have that same problem? I would love to have it back in my therapy rotation.
