Storage & Organization

I get asked this question every week. How do you store all these materials? So today I took a picture! I store the units I sell or buy on TPT in gallon sized bags. I leave title pages in and use the instruction pages as dividers within the bag. Each of the games is rubber banded in there. Then I put all my current seasonal bags like this into a container that sits next to my kidney table for easy grab and go. You can see books that I will use in the container too. You’re looking at almost all my lesson plans for the season. Then when we play a game I just pull out what we need. I leave the other items in the bag sitting next to me! Seriously how great are these listening comprehension activities? I love this clipart! You can find them in this packet on TPT.  This is the cheapest, easiest way for me to have easy access to my activities but also having them organized. How are you storing your items?

  • I put each different activity into a small envelope that I laminate with the title page on the front. I then store all my seasonal lessons in one rubbermaid storage box. I’m planning on labeling each box for each season. Next year it will be grab and go!

  • Thanks for sharing Jenna! How do you store the seasonal materials when you’re done with them? Keep them in baskets or file me somehow?

  • Mine are stored similar to yours. I use ziplock bags or plastic file envelopes from the big box store. They are on my table next to my work table. At the end of the season, they go into file folders in my filing cabinet.

  • Expandable file folders are also good for storing materials and will fit in a filing cabinet.

  • I buy the sheet protectors that have the top that folds over then I keep it all in a notebook so I can put it on a shelf at the end of the season. Plus, I travel so a notebook travels better for me.

  • I organized large binders this year for my TPT resources labeled vocabulary activities, grammar activites, etc. I labeled sections with mini post its (e.g. pronouns, verbs, adjectives.) I also used sheet protectors to slide in game cards, or just used binder clips to attach. I laminated seperate file folders for frequently used activities e.g. categories, analogies, wh questions etc. that are
not kept in binders. I need more space in my tiny room to put all this great stuff though!

  • We do something similar. We have huge clear bins for each season. We also have bins for classics and different themes. Title pages are placed in each bin facing out so we can know easily what’s inside. This way, we can pull in one bin for a few weeks and leave the others in storage. In each bin we have big binders with clear dividers that we can put in different activities (kind of like your bags, Jenna!). We also have large manilla envelopes labeled and storing larger materials and/or books with materials.

  • It sounds like I store mine very similarly to everybody else. I use large manilla envelopes labeled with what the unit is. Rather than separate by season, I separate by skill set (i.e. categories, grammar, etc.) I wish I had a bigger room too to store all these great materials!
