Crafts are my go-to activity when there just isn’t time to plan for therapy. We had a snow day added onto our long weekend for Presidents Day and things are so out of whack! I saw this easy bear in a cave craft on Funky Fresh Firsties that fit perfect with Bear Snores On.
The kids loved it! I used the craft with my most significantly impaired preschoolers so we had to make our caves really fun. We tip-toed our fingers up the cave and let the bear nibble on our fingers! “Ahhhh! A bear!” I love working on animals because even my non-verbal students love to growl.
My friends working with AAC were able to focus on several core words like “in” and “on”. PS – If you’re not using sticker version of plastic eyeballs you are missing out! Add that to your supply order.
They turned out great and were such a breeze to make! Just cut a paper plate in half and shape it like a cave. Add a sentence strip and some winter trees. Color inside the cave black and add two bear eyes!
Last week, we spent a bunch of time with the Karma Wilson book, Bear Snores On. It’s such a favorite of mine!
We used TpT packet from Whitney that you can find here. I paired that with a cave made from a can!

This is wonderful! I’d love to do more crafts in therapy, but I need to keep it simple (just for my own sanity and lack of prep time). This looks perfect and so fun! Thanks as always for the inspiration!
