Describing Football Mascots

It’s almost time for the big game and we’re planning to highlight some football fun in speech during the first week of February. I’m pairing this Describing Football Mascots packet with mini football helmets.

Included in this packet, 26 different team mascots and activities to support describing skills. First up, we’ll use a describing poster to describe different things we know about the mascots.

We’ll focus on growing that into sentences and then paragraph to build out our expressive language skills. You can have students creating a written prompt if they’re also working on written expression.

We can use a map to talk about differences in the teams as well! I love building in some geography to a language lesson. This month we’ll focus on the difference between the Rams and the Patriots as we count down to the super bowl!

Who are you rooting for in the big game?
