It’s fairy tales week in preschool. We are having a blast talking all kinds of characters. Most of the classes in our building read The Knight and the Dragon by Tomie dePaola.
To follow up with that vocabulary today we worked on dragon words! We started by making dragons out of solo cups! I cut out the bottom so they echoed like megaphones. Then add fire (crate paper) and eyes (poof balls and google eyes) to your dragon.
We used our best dragon voices to practice some royal vocabulary words. You can download the handouts and flip book in my TpT store for free.

I love your creativity.
I am trying to be more “fun” in my sessions, afterall I do work with preschoolers. I hate to use “commercial games” and am trying to move toward activities I make up that is related to speech goals.
My questions:
1. You are not using this activity for all your kids, right?
2. How to go make sure your activity goes the “mileage” – use with different kids, addressing different goals.
I travel to different preschools every day. And ideally, I want to prep for one activity per week. That’s why I asked question #2. I figured as I build up these materials, I will be good to in a year or two – with a new activity every week. 🙂
Thank you in advance for answering my questions.
And thank you for inspiring me to be a better, more fun SLP.

Thanks! No I would only use it for phono kids. I would use my vocabulary ones for all kids though. I plan one activity per week usually based on a book. Look back at some of my older posts such as the Mitten box I just did. Have fun! Preschool is the best!

Awesoooooome craft idea you got there. I’m thinking about punching a hole at the cup’s bottom so the kids could blow through it. It may give a more realistic fire breathing effect! :3

I love this activity! I used it in our self-contained class. They had a blast! I had a question about some of the pics. There are 2 knights on the colored cards but on the homework there is one of a person looking in the mirror. What is that one?
Thanks for everything you do!
