I’ve been back from the American Speech and Hearing Association’s 2015 convention for two whole days. I’m up to my ears in progress reports to write so I figured blogging a quick re-cap would a great distraction from those reports. I had such an inspiring time in Denver.
I headed to ASHA with four major goals! Each of them exciting!
Goal 1: Present at ASHA. Presenting at ASHA was a complete honor. It’s pretty amazing to see your name in the program planner!
I’m especially grateful to have done it with my friend and colleague Nicole. She’s such a positive influence on my life professionally and personally too! I’m blessed to call her my friend.
We presented Practical Applications and Therapy Ideas When Implementing the Common Core.
Concentrating! Thanks to all of you who snapped a picture and put it on social media!
If you attended and wanted the full handouts they are available here for limited time, so go head and download!
We were excited to fill up the entire room (550 seats) plus two additional over-flow rooms who just heard our voices and saw the presentation. Thanks so much for making us feel welcome and engaging with us! We hope you learned a lot!
If you attended the session, we’d love to hear your feedback. If you attended can you take 3 minutes to complete a quick survey? Complete that survey here. Thanks!
Goal 2: Celebrate the new niche in speech-language pathology that we’ve created! Blogging! I got together with 14 of my friends from all across the country from California to New York. We had a table and got to talk to so many of you!
Here we are (bottom to top, left to right)
Courtney from PSST! Let’s Talk, Whitney from Let’s Talk, Super Power Speech, Maureen from The Speech Bubble SLP, Felice from The Dabbling Speechie,
Shannon from Speechy Musings, Jenna from Speech Room News (HEY!), Lauren from Busy Bee Speech, Danielle from Sublime Speech, Jessica from Consonantly Speaking
Rachel from Let’s Talk Speech Therapy, Jenn from Crazy Speech World, Natalie from Natalie Snyders , Nicole from Allison’s Speech Peeps, Miss Speechie
I passed out hundreds and hundreds of lip balms! Hope you got one! Also – I’m very serious, as seen here.
Meeting so many of you who read my blog was such a hit! I loved chatting with you.
Our little table was hoppin!
So many ASHA selfies! Make sure you search #ASHAbloggers to see all the pictures!
Goal 3: Learn a lot! And I did! My favorite session was by Sean Sweeney at Speech Techie about pairing books and iPads.
Goal 4: See my family! If you follow along on instagram, you have noticed this is my fourth trip to Denver this year. I went for the holidays, my brother’s wedding, and my cousin’s wedding earlier this year. I snuck in some time to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday on Saturday. What a perfect ASHA destination!
I hope you had a wonderful ASHA trip. If you couldn’t make it this year, maybe I’ll see you next year in Philly!
