Merry Christmas! This season I’ve been inspired by my location. You see, in 2/3 of my buildings my speech office is located directly next to the music room. Let’s skip the Bah Humbug comments about recorders and hearing ‘Dreidel, Dreidel’ 12 times a day, plus those poor ADHD/ASD kids with short attention spans. I decided if I can’t beat them, join them! My articulation students have been re-composing the 12 Days of Christmas song to include their target sounds. You can have your students do the same with this free 12 Day of Articulation Christmas Craftivity! Give each student one blank ‘12 days’ paper. Provide students with articulation lists for their target sound. I also used my 40,000 Selected Wordsbook. You NEED this if you don’t have it! My ‘ng’ kid is my hardest! Write lyrics for each 12 parts of the story which include their articulation sound in each part. Use the included original version to help! Illustrate each part. Color the holly and paste it on construction paper with the 1’2 Days’ paper. Here are a few examples! An /r/ song and an /r/ song all about dogs at Christmas! A third grader in speech class Two twinkling stars Three loving hearts Four Christmas wreaths FIVE CHRISTMAS TREES Six opened presents Seven Christmas carols Eight fuzzy ear muffs Nine flying reindeer Ten broken ornaments Eleven hot cocoas Twelve holly berries I promise you will practice SO many words you will have boatloads of data at the word, phrase, and SONG level 😉 My kids were BEGGING me to come to speech an extra day and finish their projects. I promised them this week we will go ‘caroling’ to get some extra practice! Hop over to my TpT Site and download this free craftivity! Make sure you leave feedback! I liked up with Lauren over at Busy Bee Speech! Click the picture below to check out all the other freebies for the holidays! I also linked up with Teach Speech 365’s holiday speech songs linky! I must admit that I’ve been slacking a bit in using new fun materials for my kiddos! I have followed your blog for a long time and have gotten away for a while now that I have a little one of my own (6 mos!). I was scrolling through your old posts and read the one about leaving feedback.. I just wanted to let you know that you do an amazing job with all of your activities. As a busy SLP, I truly admire all of your hard word and dedication. I work for a private practice but we follow the school schedule for Christmas holidays and will be closed for two weeks. I promise to load up my TPT cart with some of your wonderful activities and leave you some feedback! Thanks again for all that you do! Keep up the great work!!

Thank you for this great holiday idea, Jenna! I started this with a couple of my groups today and they LOVED it! Since the younger kiddos needed a bit more room, I recreated the 12 days on a larger scale. Here is a link if you’d like to share it.

Hi Jenna! I am amazed at your creativity and how you make lemonade out of your barrel full of lemons! That being said, I plan to use this next week in my lessons! This year, my caseload is about 85% articulation so the TPT and pinterest have been very good to my kids for different activities this year and not always relYING ON THE same old speech card decks!
With that being said, you did not purchase the 40,000 words book for almost 100$ did you? That is the going rate, used, on Amazon today! YIKES!! I wish communication skill builders was still around just for this reason! 🙁
Thanks again for sharing! This is terrific!
Merry Christmas!
