Baby it’s cold outside! I’ve been unpacking my winter themed items and decided to add a few new things! My solution to mixed groups has been to made multiple activity packets for different skills all based around one board game. SLPs can mix and match the decks for each kid in the group. It makes mixed groups a breeze! I’m home on a ‘cold day’ instead of a ‘snow day’. That purple part is bad news. So I’m excited to take the time to write this today and share with you! The three packets feature a Winter Village theme. They are played just like the Carrotville and Harvest Acres sets. Some suggested ways to play: Game 1: Carryover. Play with all types of language cards. Start the game on ‘start’. When you land on a space, check the location (ice fort, apartments, etc.). Answer the corresponding type of question (ie: if you land on the ice fort, answer an expected/unexpected behavior.) If you answer correctly, stay on the new space. If you answer incorrectly, go back to your last space. Game 2: Specific Skill Practice. Play with only one type of language card (or one card type per student). The student should move around the board. answering the predetermined type of questions. If they answer correctly, use the game points card to determine how many points the student has earned. You can track these points on the included, ‘My Game Points’ card. Snow Fort: Name expected and unexpected behaviors for each given situation. Ice Skating Pond: Read the emotion listed on the card. Act out the emotion and name a given situation that could cause this. Identifying Problems/Solutions: Read the social problems and solutions. Match them on name other solutions. Snowflake Faces: Draw a face and identify how the snowflake is feeling. Identify a time you might feel like this.. Create your own facial expressions and add them to the deck. Sarcasm: Use your tone of voice to say the phrase normally and sarcastically. Compare & Contrast: Identifying features that are the same/different for the listed items. Retelling Familiar Sequences: Tell the steps in sequence to complete the given task. Generating WH questions: Develop a WH question that will match the answer given on the card. Attributes: Read the attributes and name the listed item or name attributes for the item. Multiple Meaning Words:Name two different meanings for the given word. Subjective & Possessive Pronouns (24 multiple choice) & Irregular Plurals (18 sentence completion) Irregular Verbs (18 multiple choice) & Helping Verbs (24 fill in is/are/has/have) 3rd Person Singular (18 multiple choice) I’m so excited about this set because they make things so easy for mixed groups! I LOVE easy. For real. Who doesn’t. So snatch these up individually here: Grammar Social Language or grab a shiny bundle and save over 15% 🙂
