Back on the catch-up train! These Interactive Vocabulary Books are two of my favorites.
These books are really great for minimally verbal students. They can show their knowledge without needing to verbally produce answers, just match. For kids just learning to express themselves in single words or simple phrases, pictures support that level of speech. If students are communicating in sentences they can make up their own language to describe the picture/scene.
Interactive books give little hands something to do. They also have a very clear ending. The kids can see if they get the 12 pictures done they are finished with this activity. I can work on many additional goals (verbs, pronouns, functions, attributes, etc.) while targeting this activity. This meets the curriculum vocabulary for my preschool programs during the first month of school.
First up, Puppy Prepositions is perfect for year round instruction of basic concepts. This packet is for In, Out, On, and Off. The books work at three levels of instruction.
In the first two books, the concepts are targeting with simple picture matching.
In the second set of books, the child has to put the dog in the right spot by listening. Two different velcro dots are placed so the child has two choices.
The 5th book in the set is a story. The student will listen and put Puppy in the right spot based on the story.
This comprehension book is a great way to really assess comprehension at a higher level after practicing at simplified books.
I’ve also published some Thanksgiving Interactive Vocabulary Books.
The four books included in this set are:
-Thanksgiving Dinner (names food items)
-Do you Like it? (give thumbs up or thumbs down to tell which food items you like)
-Thanksgiving activities (different activities we do for Thanksgiving)
-Where is Turkey? (positional concepts)
.
The ‘Do you like it?’ book is absolute favorite!
Each page includes a HOMEWORK sheet to send home. It lists the vocabulary and leaves room for the SLP or teacher to write in what specifically the student worked on

I have a few of your interactive books. I love them and my students really enjoy them as well. I have a darling young kinder student who is learning to speak on a computerized device. I am searching for anything with vocabulary and concepts in this type of format. I like to use the monthly theme based books to follow classroom curriculum. I’m hoping you will publish a Christmas/holiday theme book as well. Yes, I said Christmas! 🙂 Little girls love Christmas and she has a lot to say about that most magical of holidays. Please consider it! Thank you!!!
