Summer is the perfect time for burgers on the grill. Super Duper recently published a new app called Food Frenzy that targets following directions using a food theme. I LOVE it because it really does feel like a “game” and not therapy. SD sent me the app for review but the opinions are all mine!
The goal of the app is to deliver and prepare food before the time runs out! Or in SLP terms… follow one of the six types of directions in a time limit set by the therapist. You set up profiles to keep data and select goals.
I love the quick play option for those days when you need to fill the last five minutes of therapy. No need to have student info loaded, just chose quick play.
The app includes data tracking and graphing for an unlimited number of players and the ability to email, print, or export your data.
Pros: The app is really engaging and feels like you’re just playing. My guys loved racing against the ‘clock’ to get the food done in time. It’s a great way to collect data on these goals.
Cons: The app doesn’t have any teaching function. A quick explanation or tip for each of the directions would add a lot.
Download the app for $4.99 from iTunes.
Have you tried it? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave me a comment.
